Accuracy at the point of contact.

The choice of scanning Stylus will be dependent on the type of gage and the type of screwthread the specific Plug or Ring gage has. Different probe lengths for specific diameter ranges and pitches.

With the contact scanning measurement, the stylus tip only comes into contact with the Gage surface for a brief period of time. Because the contact is continuous, there is a prolonged sliding contact between the stylus and the surface of the gage.
